I work as Santangelo Lighting and Design's industrial designer for their lighting and fixture line. The work flow is pretty simple; I get a sketch of a basic concept, and I then build and engineer the light for client approval. I've created hundreds of CAD drawings and been part of manufacturing of chandeliers, lanterns, sconces and other interior design pieces. Tradtionally, this kind of work has been done in 2D, and doing it in 3D gives it a huge boost in possibilities.
Many of these chandeliers are large, and some are as high as fifteen feet and weigh in at 800 pounds.
